Export Control Specialist

What we’re looking for

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all export activities comply with German and EU export control laws and regulations, including compliance with dual-use goods, military goods, and embargo-related regulations.

  • Act as the main point of contact for all interactions with BAFA, handling licensing processes, and ensuring timely and accurate submission of export license applications.

  • Continuously monitor updates to export control regulations, sanctions, and embargoes in Germany, the EU, and globally, and ensure internal processes are updated accordingly .

  • Acting as a contact person for future customs audits and all relevant audits concerning Dual Use or export controls

  • Monitoring the tariff classification and HS classification of goods for EU and third countries (CH, NO, UK) 

  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all export control processes, licensing, and approvals. 

  • Provide regular reports on export compliance status and any potential risks.

  • Preparation of customs and export-specific documentation (process descriptions, guidelines  etc.) and implementation in practice

  • Representing the company to authorities

Job Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of German export control regulations, EU export restrictions, and international sanctions

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in export control, with a strong focus on German and EU regulations.

  • Experience with customs practice in EU (with focus on Germany and/or Poland), including identification of issues related to export 

  • Excellent knowledge of customs tariff classification, including direct experience with classifying products under Harmonized Tariff System 

  • Strong Analytical and technical mindset 

  • Advanced German and English language skills 

  • Completed university degree in law, International trade law, business administration 

  • Preferred: Official Government audit experience in Germany 

  • Preferred: Experience in working with multinational companies or handling complex global transactions
