Berlin, 14 November 2023 – AUTODOC, a leading online retailer of automotive parts and accessories in Europe, is opening a new distribution centre in Cheb. The 27,000 m² warehouse named “C27” will be the company’s first warehouse in the Czech Republic.

Since opening its Czech web shop in 2014, AUTODOC has recorded steady growth in the Czech Republic. In 2022, the company served more than 25,000 customers and processed around 34,000 orders in the Czech market. This resulted in a turnover of around 3.3 million euros. Over the past five financial years from 2018 to 2022, AUTODOC achieved an average annual growth rate of 28 per cent in the Czech Republic, consolidating its position as a reliable and fast-growing player in the automotive parts industry.

More customer proximity, better service

The new warehouse, which will be able to store up to 120,000 products in future, currently has a capacity of around 4,800 pallet spaces and 30,000 shelf spaces. This year, an average of around 4,000 orders will be processed per day, 20,000 parts picked, and around 5,000 parcels dispatched to customers in Austria and Italy. The distribution centre started shipping to Austria in August 2023 and it sent its first parcels to Italy in October 2023. In 2024, customers in southern Germany and Switzerland will also be supplied from Cheb.

“We chose Cheb for strategic reasons. This new logistics centre enables a better and faster service to Austria, Germany and Southern Europe. By opening “C27”, we have created space for further growth, gained flexibility, and achieved a higher level of service for our customers,” says Zdenek Kompanek, Managing Director of Autodoc Logistics Czech s.r.o. and Head of Logistics in the Czech Republic at AUTODOC.

The new warehouse, which is currently still operated manually, will gradually become fully automated by the end of 2025 in order to boost efficiency and increase productivity. Up to 45,000 orders per day will then be processed in C27.

A major employer in the region

AUTODOC now employs more than 170 warehouse and administrative staff of ten different nationalities at its new logistics centre in Cheb. The total number of employees is set to rise to around 200 by the end of this year. A further 250 new hires are planned for next year. AUTODOC is looking for warehouse staff in particular.

“Like many other German e-commerce companies, we value the excellent infrastructure and highly qualified professionals that the Czech Republic has to offer. That’s why we decided to set up our third logistics centre in Cheb back in 2021 and thus set the course for further growth,” says Dmitry Zadorojnii, CEO and Board Member of AUTODOC SE.

The company has also been operating a logistics centre in Berlin-Lichtenberg in Germany since 2010. In 2018, AUTODOC opened its second distribution centre in Szczecin, Poland, which has developed into the company’s largest logistics location over the years.
