What we’re looking for

Responsibilities

  • Coordination, monitoring and optimization of all customs procedures

  • Authorization management for all customs authorizations

  • Technical employee leadership

  • Acting as a contact person for future customs audits and all relevant audits concerning Dual Use or export controls

  • Monitoring the tariff classification and classification of goods

  • Ensuring compliance with customs and export law

  • Coordination and monitoring of legal export control matters (lists of goods, embargo regulations, personnel control, sanctions list screening, etc.)

  • Preparation of customs and export-specific documentation (process descriptions, etc.) and implementation in practice

  • Acting as a central point of contact for all specialist departments and external service providers in the area of customs

  • Representing the company to authorities

  • Cooperation in relevant projects


Qualifications (Essential)

  • 5+ years of experience in Customs and Trade Compliance role, excellent knowledge of Import and export regulations 

  • Experience with customs practice in EU (with focus on Germany and/or Poland), including identification of issues related to import and export procedures  that may have a short or longer term positive impact 

  • Advanced knowledge in customs valuation, transfer pricing and  INCOTERMS of delivery 

  • Excellent knowledge of customs tariff classification, including direct experience with classifying products under Harmonized Tariff System 

  • Strong Analytical and technical mindset 

  • Experience in direct communication with Customs Authorities (Hauptzollamt)  in Germany 

  • Advanced German language skills

  • Prefered: Official Government audit experience in Germany 

  • Prefered:  History of working in automotive industry 

  • Prefered: Export control processes experience with focus on  dual use and sanctions  goods , CBAM reporting etc.
