Inbound Transportation Manager

What we’re looking for

An inbound transportation manager is responsible for overseeing the transportation of goods and materials from suppliers to the company’s warehouse or distribution center. They ensure that the inbound transportation process is efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with safety and quality standards.

Job requirements

  • Monitor the inbound transportation of goods and materials from suppliers to the warehouse or distribution center
  • Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, warehouse staff, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and materials.
  • Monitor and track the status and location of inbound shipments, using transportation management systems and other tools.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation-related laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, such as safety, quality, environmental, and customs requirements.
  • Resolve any issues or problems that arise during the inbound transportation process, such as delays, damages, shortages, or disputes.
  • Analyze and evaluate the inbound transportation performance and data, using key performance indicators and metrics, and prepare reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage, train, and supervise a team of transportation staff, such as dispatchers, drivers, and clerks, and provide feedback and guidance.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, inventory, fulfillment, and sales, to ensure alignment and coordination of inbound transportation activities with the company’s goals and objectives.


  • Bachelor’s degree or similar Profession  in logistics, transportation, business administration, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in inbound transportation management or a similar role in the logistics industry.
  • Proficient in transportation management systems, warehouse management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of the inbound transportation industry, best practices, trends, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
