What we’re looking for
Responsibilities
Data Asset Management: development of criteria and standards for recognizing data as a “data asset”;
oversee the identification, classification, and cataloging of data assets across the organization;
develop and maintain an inventory of data assets, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records;
ensure data assets are aligned with business needs and objectives;
Data Lifecycle Management: ensuring data management at all stages of their life cycle - from creation, use, modification, archiving, deletion for each data asset;
MetaData Management: organizing and managing metadata that describes the structure, content and context of data asset;
Ownership - this function allows establish ownership of data at various levels within the organization for each data asset:
define roles: set ownership roles for data assets;
assign owners: designate and document responsible data owners;
maintain register: keep an updated list of data owners;
provide guidelines: ensure everyone understands their ownership responsibilities;
facilitate collaboration: support cooperation between data owners and stewards.
Master Data Management: ensuring the consistency and uniformity of key data (such as customer or product information) across various systems and business processes in the company;
Data Access and Security: define and manage access controls for data assets, ensuring that data is accessible to authorized users while protecting sensitive data;
work with IT and security, compliance teams to implement data protection measures, including encryption, access controls, and monitoring;
ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, such as GDPR or CCPA;
Data Governance Tools and Technology: evaluate, select, and implement data governance tools and technologies to support data management activities.
ensure that data governance tools are effectively integrated with existing IT infrastructure.
provide training and support to users on data governance tools and processes.
Team Management: effectively lead, coordinate, and support a group of individuals to achieve common goals through communication, delegation, and performance management.
Requirements
Education: bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Technology or a related field;
Experience: 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related role; Proven experience in implementing data governance frameworks and managing data assets.
Knowledge: strong understanding of Data Governance principles, data lifecycle management and data quality standards; Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
Communication: ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
Documentation: competence in creating clear and comprehensive documentation (procedures, guides, policies);
Data Cataloging: experience with data catalog tools and metadata management;
Stakeholder Management: ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders across the organization;
Data Quality Management: ability to define, monitor, and improve data quality metrics;
Project Management: experience in managing data-related projects, including timelines, resources, and deliverables;
Data Governance Tools: proficiency with data governance tools and technologies
Data Policy: strong understanding of data security practices, including access controls and data protection methods.
Problem-Solving: ability to identify data issues and implement effective solutions.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead data governance initiatives and manage cross-functional teams.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to align data asset management with business objectives and long-term strategy.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to assess data quality, manage data lifecycles, and make data-driven decisions
